The AVL Mapping module uses Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) technology to track the location of all fleet units through Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers, which are purchased separately from the AVL Mapping module. From your vehicle you can see the location of nearby units to determine where the closest officer is for backup, or view CAD calls on a jurisdictional map to quickly find the shortest route to a call. Incoming CAD calls are automatically displayed on your mobile screen, allowing you to be on your way to a location before dispatch has even finished the call.
