Hapeville Police and Fire Prepare for Integrated System

HAPEVILLE, Ga. – Nov. 19, 2007 – The Hapeville police and fire departments are preparing to install a new public safety software system from Spillman Technologies, a leading public safety software provider headquartered in Salt Lake City.

The agencies plan to go live with Spillman's Integrated Hub, Law Records, Computer-Aided Dispatch, and Mobile Records modules in March 2008.

The integrated software system will allow the Georgia agencies to enter names, addresses, and other data once. The information will then automatically populate into other fields within the system to be compiled into records that can be accessed by officers working in the community.

Hapeville IT Specialist Ashley J. Smith said the software is a major advancement for the departments, which have never before used Computer-Aided Dispatch or Mobile Communications software.

Spillman will increase the efficiency of both our police and fire departments by giving them a robust reporting tool that will allow them to provide services at a higher level,” Smith said. The records and mobile solutions will allow officers to stay out on patrol longer and fill in narratives from their cars without having to come into the station. This gives a stronger police presence in the community and allows for the officers to respond quicker to citizen needs.”

Chief Tom Morris of the Hapeville Fire Department said Spillman's Fire/EMS solution will help his agency increase efficiency, effectiveness, and safety. The software will allow the agency to receive data on residential, commercial, and public lots, and access information on water sources. Department personnel will also be able to easily input data gathered in the field into the appropriate records in Spillman's database.

The new software will allow the Hapeville Police Department to better meet the needs of the approximately 6,000-resident community, said the Hapeville Chief of Police, Rick Glavosek.

Hapeville is located near Atlanta and becomes home to thousands of commuters during the work day. Due to its unique location, Glavosek said Hapeville is a small town that faces big-city challenges like traffic violations, vandalism, and larceny.

We are looking forward to the added efficiency that the Spillman system will provide, as well as the ability to network and share this information with other Spillman users,” said Glavosek.

They will become one of 12 agencies in Georgia and more than 700 agencies nationwide using Spillman software.
