Users’ Conference Sneak Peek

At Spillman, we think it’s never too early to start talking about the annual Users’ Conference, happening this year from September 16-19 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. This year, we are looking forward to our biggest conference yet with software announcements, classes taught by both Spillman employees and customers, plenty of opportunities for networking, and even a little adventure. We are so excited about the conference and seeing everyone that we couldn’t help but sneak a little peek at what’s in store for attendees in September.

To start with, we are honored to present Robert O’Neill, this year’s keynote speaker during the Opening Session. From 2004-2012, O’Neill served as team leader of the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (SEAL Team Six). He took part in more than 400 combat missions, including the Maersk Alabama hijacking and piracy incident that began with four Somali pirates seizing the U.A. cargo ship in 2009. His topic is: “Never Quit: The Story of a Life Built on Successful Missions.”

After the Opening Session, attendees can choose from a wide variety of beginner, intermediate, or advanced classes. These classes are tailored for every role in an agency—from management to SAAs to field personnel. The Research & Design Track will discuss what’s new and the future of Spillman software. And new to this year’s conference are hands-on workshops for CAD, Records, Data Mining, and both the Classic and Sentryx Jail modules.

We’re also excited about this year’s Best Practices classes taught by Spillman customers. In these, attendees will be able to hear directly from other users about what they are doing to get the most out of their Spillman systems. New classes this year include:

  • Weathering Superstorm Sandy. Presentation and discussion of pre-storm preparation and how Spillman was used during the storm, presented by Andrew Calvo and Mike Burke, Systems Analysts/SAAs for the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office in New Jersey.
  •  Intelligence-Led Policing: Using Data Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS). Captain Mitch Little, Administration Bureau Commander for the Toms River Police Department in New Jersey, offers real-life scenarios illustrating the importance of intelligence-led policing efforts and DDACTS.
  • Successful Multi-Jurisdictional Management. Insight from Doug Ashmore, Spillman Support & SAA for the Nevada Department of Public Safety, on ensuring success and overcoming any challenges that may come up during the implementation of Spillman systems when multiple agencies share one database.

Finally, this year’s Evening Event will take place at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah, with the Flying Ace All-Star Show. The Flying Ace All-Star show is a collection of past and current Olympic athletes showing off their ski jump skills into a huge swimming pool. Attendees will also get to play on the Alpine Slide, Extreme and Freestyle Zipline rides, adventure courses, and Drop Tower. Additionally, up to 30 lucky attendees will win a ride on the Comet Bobsled down the Olympic bobsled track!
