Spillman Technologies Donates Toys to Shriners Hospital for Children
Every year, the Women of Spillman, a professional development organization within Spillman Technologies, organizes a company-wide fundraiser to help a charity in need during the holiday season. The Shriners Hospitals for Children in Salt Lake City was chosen as the recipient for this year’s charitable efforts.
Shriners Hospitals for Children is a non-profit organization that provides medical care to children, regardless of families’ ability to pay. The organization has almost 20 locations throughout North America that specialize in various fields, including spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate repair, and burn treatment. The Salt Lake City location specializes in treating children with orthopedic and neuromusculoskeletal conditions such as muscular dystrophy.
The Women of Spillman facilitated several activities during November and December to raise money for the hospital, including a bake sale and gift wrapping service for the employees. Additionally, a donation box was placed in the breakroom of Spillman’s headquarters and employees were encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for the charity. A portion of the proceeds from the bake sale and gift wrapping went toward purchasing additional toys for the children to enjoy. The group also spent time hand-crafting holiday cards for the children being treated at Shriners.
Thanks to the support of Spillman employees and their families, the Women of Spillman were able to raise more than seven hundred dollars to donate to the hospital, as well as seven boxes filled with new toys for its patients.
At the conclusion of the fundraiser, several members of the Women of Spillman were able to visit Shriners Hospital to deliver the money and toys. The majority of the toys will be given to the patients currently being treated to play with and take home, while a small portion will remain at the hospital for common use.
The Women of Spillman wishes to thank everyone who helped make the fundraiser and toy drive the most successful charitable effort to date. Thank you, and we wish you a very Merry Christmas!
