5 Ways to Make the Most Out of Summit 2018

We are less than two weeks away from Summit 2018 and anticipation is building here at Motorola Solutions as we make final preparations for a week of informative classes, networking opportunities, entertainment, and catching up with friends from across the nation. To help you have the best conference experience possible, we put together a list of some of the most important things to keep in mind as you prepare for Summit.

Here are 5 ways to ensure you’re making the most out of your time at Summit 2018:

1. Download the Mobile App

The entirely new Summit 2018 app will be your go-to for any and all information during the conference. With easy access to class surveys, your personal agenda, and conference maps, the app will be the best way to stay connected to everything going on at Summit this year. It will also be how you receive conference notifications, so be sure to download it in order to stay in the loop. In addition, you can use the My Agenda feature to personalize and organize your Summit experience by adding all of your classes to one spot for easy access while you’re at the conference.

2. Dress for Unpredictable Weather

There’s a lot to do to make Summit 2018 a success, and hopefully we aren’t the only ones getting ready. As you finish necessary preparations for the week, keep in mind this conference is taking place in Salt Lake City, Utah. With its breathtaking views and scenery, Utah is a beautiful setting for our conference, but it can also bring unpredictable weather. The conference will be held indoors, but you may have to venture outside to walk back and forth between the two hotels so remember to pack a warm coat!

In the month of November, Salt Lake City averages a daily maximum temperature that’s between 45 and 54 degrees Fahrenheit. The minimum temperature usually falls between 28 and 34 degrees Fahrenheit. Be prepared for rainy days and perhaps even some of the Greatest Snow on Earth™! Also, remember to bring comfortable shoes for walking around. Not only will they be helpful walking back and forth between classes, but there are also a host of sites to visit and restaurants to enjoy that are within walking distance of The Grand America and Little America.

3. Get Ready to Meet Lots of New People

This conference will be the biggest yet because for the first time ever, customers from the entire Motorola Solutions Command Center Software portfolio will be combined under one roof! This provides many benefits to you as an attendee, allowing for class content, software training, and product discussions that span your agency’s end-to-end workflow. Summit is the place to not only reconnect with old friends, but make some new ones too. We’ve made sure there will be ample opportunities for you to connect at Summit with your Motorola Solutions’ representatives as well as other customer agencies that use the same software. This creates the perfect atmosphere to hear how others have found solutions to similar problems your agency might be facing through scheduled user group meetings or one-on-one sessions with one of our knowledgeable support staff.

4. Participate in a Plethora of Fun Events

In addition to hundreds of classes and training hours, there are also fun events planned from beginning to end. Be sure to attend the Forum Grand Opening on Sunday, November 11 to help us kickoff Summit 2018. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and a drink and get a sneak peek at everything in The Forum this year.

Another event you should mark in your calendars is the Opening General Session, where you’ll hear from Corporate Vice President and General Manager Andrew Sinclair about the vision for the end-to-end Command Center Software portfolio. This includes scenarios that show incidents unfolding and demonstrate how unified workflows across the portfolio can help our customers work smarter and more efficiently. You’ll also have the chance to hear from Captain Charlie Plumb, a Navy Fighter Pilot and Vietnam prisoner of war survivor, and join us in honoring those attendees who have served in a military branch.

Be prepared to bust a gut during the Customer Success Family Feud event Tuesday afternoon. This will be the perfect opportunity to meet your Customer Success representative and share some laughs with other Motorola Solutions customers. If possible, we also strongly encourage you to attend our Closing Event, Casino Royale. Join your Motorola Solutions representatives in a night of fun, featuring live entertainment, cash bars, card games, a vintage photo booth, and delicious food. There is no required dress for this event, but you are more than welcome to pack your favorite black tie attire. Your Customer Success representatives and conference hosts will be dressed to the nines!

5. Make Some Time to Explore Salt Lake City

With Summit coming soon, we know you must be wondering what there is to eat and do for fun when you’re not in classes or networking. We asked some of our employees for their favorite restaurants and sites and put a list together so you don’t have to dig around yourself. You can find these places on the Amenities page of the Summit website under the Around Town section, as well as by selecting the Places icon in the conference app.

Come discover why the state of Utah is considered a top destination to visit by the Michelin Guides for travelers and why it was given the coveted three-star designation. While you’re here, you can experience firsthand Salt Lake City’s “surprisingly lively ambiance, local hospitality, and visitors’ access to hidden gems.” We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by all of the things to do and see in Salt Lake City.

Lastly, don’t forget to bring the essentials like your toothbrush, pajamas, and phone charger! If you’re bringing your own laptop, you’ll want to make sure your computer and power cord are ready to go.

Summit 2018 is going to be an experience you don’t want to miss. From all of the new additions, to some of the old favorites, this conference is going to be one for the books. It’s never too late to register! If you haven’t yet, be sure to visit the Summit 2018 website right now and get signed up. We’ll see you soon!
